Making Exceptional Technology, Better

Our consultants have worked with Notes & Domino for a long enough time to understand all of its advantages and to be aware of all of the variables to be considered when applying Notes in an enterprise, departmental office or a process automation environment. Email, legacy applications and web integration can all prove to be most challenging. The issues grow a bit more complicated when the applications in question must support hundreds or even thousands of users. Here are just a few of the ways that SVAM has helped clients navigate around some of the pitfalls and challenges when deploying Lotus Notes applications in robust environments.

Extending Legacy Value

Data residing on a legacy system database was required for an application being developed in Lotus Notes. The data was required on a dynamic basis. Using Notes Pump to provide connectivity, our consultants created an application that accessed data from the DB2 database on the AS400 system to a Domino server and made it available to users on the Internet via a browser. The user could then access the information from any of their offices around the world. This data was then sent back to the AS/400 after the approval process, where the DB2 Server was updated with the relevant information.

Dynamically linked to the enterprise

SVAM has helped dozens of clients to deploy Lotus Notes and Domino as a central part of their enterprise by utilizing ODBC and native drivers to connect to ORACLE or SYBASE SQL Server RDBMS. This integration allowed the client to access and update data regardless of where it was located.

Some of the developments were:

Configured Lotus Notes/Domino (on an NT Advanced Server) and CC Mail MTA to move hundreds of users from CCmail to Notes Mail.

Designed & Developed a Procurement system, which provided for serial or parallel approval processes. The system was integrated with the Budgets module and allowed for updating and tracking the budget along with transferring funds from one budget line to another from within a procurement request. This enabled the tracking of what fund transfer took place and against which request it was used.

Created servlets by leveraging the Lotus Domino CORBA architecture to trigger an agent on another database on another server. This overcame the limitations on communicating between multiple servers in different domains on a dynamic basis.

Used XML/XSLT for generating HTML on the run using servlets.

Created robust streaming management and commerce applications for an ASP environment.
